SOSUén's hands

SOSUéns hænder

Right from the first thoughts about the design of Maya Soele ® SOSUén, I knew that the figure should show hands holding a heart.

We are ready to put our hearts into shape

Like the other figures, I first had 3D drawings and prints of the figure made before sending the files to production in Vietnam.

We just needed to find some files with hands that we could then insert into the 3D drawing, but that was easier said than done. We searched and searched online, but never found the right hands.

There were a lot of witches' and wizards' hands with long hooked fingers and long nails, but we couldn't really use them for anything.

Good advice was expensive until I remembered my beautiful niece Mercedes.

Off to Randers, and then we spent the rest of the day making a cast of her fine hands.

The water should be at the right temperature

After making the mold, it was just a matter of pouring plaster in and then breaking it apart to get to the actual casting.

Full concentration on keeping your hands still

The plaster is mixedThe shape smiles at us

The plaster is poured into the mold.

With it, I took a trip to Sønderborg so they could scan the hands and insert them into the 3D file.

So all the SOSU figures that will be standing around in Danish homes are actually from Mercedes' hands.

We had fun. Both with casting and photography.

So we got a picture where we're pretty serious.
